Broken micro USB on Screen kit

The micro USB on my son’s (now-discontinued) non-touch Kano screen kit is loose and so the screen won’t work anymore. As I see it, I have the following options:

  1. Repair the micro USB - this is difficult as it will require a very precise hand and fine solder tip. I have neither…
  2. Send it in for repair - this is cost ineffective as I called around and the best price quote I got was “between $30-$100”
  3. Purchase a new driver for the screen - the driver seems to be specific to Kano and with it being discontinued, I don’t think they’ll have the driver to send. I did already email them however.
  4. Purchase a new screen…

Any insights/ideas? What should we do? I would really prefer to repair than to purchase a new one even though it’s outdated tech… Thanks!

I saw a past post in December 2019 about this but the resolution listed doesn’t really help me… I think the way that the plastic cover is designed didn’t protect the port from being dislodged if the micro USB cord is tugged on…
